Camps

KidCycle Club Summer Biking Day Camps offer your child a way to get immersed into biking fun for a whole week at a time – allowing them to build confidence in new skills and make connections with new friends.

"My son left his first week of KidCycle Club Camp last summer a new kid - the Coaches instilled lasting confidence in him! He attended another week later in the summer and gained even more confidence. I have reserved 4 weeks for this summer because he enjoyed it so much!”

-Dana, KidCycle Club Mama

Once your child is gliding confidently with both feet off the ground and making turns, they are ready to Learn to Ride a Pedal Bike. Our progressive, multi-day camp allows riders to build on each skill set and transition successfully from Balance Bike to Pedal Bike without training wheels in a week’s time. In our Learn to Ride Camp, children will get a review of bike and helmet safety and best practices. Riders will learn to start, ride in a straight line, make turns in both directions and come to a controlled stop. We allow for lots of breaks for activities and games, to make for a fun day of camp.

  • First Pedal Bike required (hand brakes recommended)

  • Properly fitting helmet and closed-toe shoes required

  • Bike and helmet rentals are available through KidCycle Club

Greenway Cruiser Summer Day Camp

Rising 1st - 6th Graders

Your child is already able to start and stop on a Pedal Bike independently. Riders will continue building their biking muscle memory and learn new skills that they can apply to more advanced biking arenas. In our Greenway Cruiser Camp, Riders will learn about coasting in neutral position, shifting gears, stand-up pedaling and slowing with hand brakes. All of these skills can translate later on to road biking or mountain biking. They will work on these skills at French Broad River Park and then progress to riding the greenways in both directions. We will allow for lots of breaks for activities and games mixed in, to make for a fun day of camp.

  • First Pedal Bike or Pro Pedal Bike required (hand brakes recommended)

  • Properly fitting helmet and closed-toe shoes required

  • Bike and helmet rentals are available through KidCycle Club

Intro To Mountain Biking Summer Day Camp

Rising 1st - 6th Graders

Your Big Kid rides a Pedal Bike with hand brakes confidently on paved surfaces. Our Intro to Mountain Biking Camp exposes the Riders to basic mountain biking skills to take to the trails with the KidCycle Club family! We will use a progressive multi-day approach that includes cone drills on grass fields and the skills loops to learn ready position, controlling speed up and down hills and maneuvering around obstacles, with an introduction to shifting gears, if applicable. As always, Riders will get a review of bike and helmet safety, as well as trail safety and etiquette. We allow for lots of breaks for activities and games, to make for a fun day of camp.

  • Pro Pedal Bike or First Mountain Bike required (hand brakes required)

  • Properly fitting helmet and closed-toe shoes required

  • Bike and helmet rentals are available through KidCycle Club

Ready to Shred Summer Day Camp

Your child has taken our Intro to Mountain Biking Class (or equivalent) and confidently performs neutral and ready positions, modulates speed with hand brakes while descending and shifts gears according to the terrain. They must be able to ride 8-12 miles per day. Our Ready to Shred Camp will allow Riders to apply their existing skills on the trail, learn new skills for climbing, descending and cornering, as well as develop trail endurance throughout the week. Riders will reinforce bike and helmet safety, trail safety and etiquette, as well as learn new map-reading skills for outdoor adventure. We allow for lots of breaks for activities and games mixed in, to make for a fun day of camp.

Camp FAQs

  • We keep a max ratio of 6 Riders to 1 Coach to provide the best learning environment possible.

  • Our Coaches are trained in the KidCycle Club coaching philosophy, which emphasizes safety, fun and learning while working with kids. They also receive training in First Aid, CPR, trailside bike maintenance and emergency action plans for every Camp location. All Coaches undergo background checks and must pass our driving tests.

  • If they have their own bike, we are happy to assess if it will be appropriate for their Camp. We offer bike and helmet rentals on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. We are also a Prevelo and Woom kids’ bike dealer.

  • For Learn to Ride and Greenway Camps, we recommend bikes with hand brakes and freewheels.

For Intro to Mountain Biking and higher Camps, we require bikes with hand brakes and freewheels. Geared bikes are recommended.
